Council Receives Public Works and Engineering Update

Public Works and Engineering Director Shannon Hicks provided Council with an update on the department's key operations, capital improvement projects, and bond projects for Fiscal Year 2024 at the January 9 City Council meeting. Some of the highlights of the presentation included:

  • Addison has been awarded a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) grant for nearly $600,000 for signal improvements at the Belt Line Road and Business Avenue intersection.
  • Construction is set to begin on the Keller Springs reconstruction project in early 2024.
  • Progress is being made with irrigation, trail, retaining walls, and traffic signals on the south side of the Midway Road project and the northbound lanes from Belt Line Road to Keller Springs are under construction. The anticipated substantial completion of the entire project is still on schedule for Spring 2024.
  • The Rawhide Creek ADA and Drainage Improvement project was completed in December 2023.
  • Design is underway for the Quorum Drive and Montfort Road reconstruction projects.
