At the November 18 Work Session, the City Council reviewed the draft Advance Addison 2050 Comprehensive Plan, a long-range initiative that will guide Addison’s growth, development, and community character through 2050. The plan reflects over two years of research, community engagement, and strategic visioning, led by consultant Verdunity and supported by the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC). It is only the third such plan in Addison’s history.

The draft plan outlines policy recommendations related to land use, housing, mobility, economic development, and public spaces, with a continued focus on preserving Addison’s unique character while planning for future opportunities. Engagement has been central to the process, with hundreds of comments collected through surveys, public meetings, targeted outreach, and ongoing input through the project website.

The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the plan at its meeting on October 21. Once adopted, staff will begin implementing the plan, including launching an online tracking tool to keep the community informed of progress. Council plans to discuss the plan further in January.
