At its August 11 meeting, the City Council approved a resolution authorizing the Town to serve as its own agent for TxDOT grants associated with Phase II of the Taxiway Bravo Extension at Addison Airport. Previously, TxDOT served as the Town’s agent for federal and state airport grants, but TxDOT is transitioning qualified airports to a model where they administer their own grants while remaining subject to TxDOT oversight.

Taxiway Bravo is a partial parallel taxiway used by aircraft to travel on the ground to and from Addison Airport’s single runway. Phase II will extend Taxiway Bravo north to the end of the runway and add two new connections between the taxiway and runway. The project also includes improvements to ground vehicle circulation, taxiway lighting, and navigational systems.

The project is estimated at $10.2 million, with Addison seeking reimbursement for at least 90% of eligible costs through TxDOT grants. The Town’s estimated local share is approximately $1 million, funded entirely through the Airport Enterprise Fund with no anticipated impact to the General Fund or Town debt service.
